bell’s palsy questions..?

my friend has been diagnosed with bell’s palsy and it has been the third day of medication. however the eye has swollon. is anything wrong there?

and, if my friend uses a wooden 2 way roller for massage on the face with olive oil, is that good? any more tips on massage will help

and one more question, does bells palsy get better over time?

thanx in advance.

I have had bells palsy since May 2007.

Yes it will get better…
I have regained about 85 percent of my movement back. I still have some small things that are taking their time about resolving.

Massage can be helpful as well as warm moist heat. ( try a hot water bottle) Icing the face was not recommended. Many believe that cold can actually bring on a Bells Palsy episode.

Most people see a good bit of improvement from about 2 weeks to a month. Something I thought I might pass along is vitamin B-12 has been found to help in the healing of the facial nerves. I highly recommend taking the B-12 shots or getting some B-12 vitamins. If steroids are given stress to your friend to take them. This will help with the inflammation and speed healing of the nerves along.

Ive written a few article that you and/or your friend may find helpful. One offers some helpful suggestions for the hurdles many Bells Palsy sufferers face in their daily life.

I hope your friend gets better quickly. Ill cross my fingers for them. :-)
